We all have basic needs that we must have fulfilled in order for us to function in a balanced and healthy way. These needs include:

Why am I a life coach?

Olympia Scott_phx07Why am I a life coach? I am a life coach because I love the possibility that we may influence our lives through our positive intentions and actions. When people say 90% of life is how you perceive it, I believe that to be the case. I understand life to be similar to what Rick Warren, author of Purpose Driven Life, said. He likened life to a set of train tracks. The entire time, you have wonderful things happening in your life, but there is also this parallel track of trials and tribulations that we must all endure. Coaching Sports and Coaching Life

It’s funny because when you think of coaching, most people automatically think of sports. Life coaching and executive coaching are elusive terms that seem to be used in forward thinking corporations that have management issues or people that are exposed to the self-help genre of information. If you took the term coaching, as it is used with a sports coach, what do you think of? You think of a person that is in charge of you, teaching you, maybe yelling or criticizing you, encouraging you, developing your skills, older than you, likely to be experienced as a player in that same sport, aggressive, respected, maybe even feared. Many of the terms above relate to what a life coach is, but many do not at all. (more…)

Seeking to be an authoritative text on the subject of life coaching, The Coaching Bible seems to do just that. Not claiming to be an encyclopedia on the subject gives the reader a good point of reference from the onset. The authors, Ian McDermott and Wendy Jago are international expert life coaches, and their expertise goes a long way towards the genuine tone of the book. They impart the message that coaching is much more about process than content. (more…)
